How to Protect Your Stuff

CubeCraft uses the Residence plugin to protect your property including chests. We do not have direct chest protection.

Basic Residence Commands

These commands will be explained in detail in the tutorials to follow.

  • /res ? [pagenumber] - displays help. Typing a number at the end moves to a different page. "/res ?" will give you page 1, while "/res ? 2" will give you page 2.

Basic Residence protection

First the basic steps, then I'll give details. This way, if you have a general idea, you can get to it right away

Step 1: Using a stick choose the 2 diagonal corners of the area you want to protect. Step 2: (optional) type /res select vert to expand your selection from sky to bedrock. Step 3: type /res create [name] - replace [name] with whatever you want, no brackets and no spaces

That's it, now I'll go into detail on each step. I'll use the picture as a reference throughout the rest of this tut.

First we'll start with a simple, building only protection

Step 1: Using a stick choose the 2 diagonal corners of the area you want to protect. Residences works by selecting the diagonal corners of a an imaginary cube around your building. In the picture, we want to protect the wood building marked with the red cube. So, we use a stick in hand and first left click one corner. Here it is the green block. Then we select the diagonally opposite top corner (the blue one) by right clicking it. Now, every block within that red cube is selected. make sure that the top corner of your selection is above the highest point of your roof

Step 2: (optional) type /res select vert to expand your selection from sky to bedrock.

You can skip this step if you only want to protect a small area. If you want to protect everything from sky to bedrock, keep reading. Back to step 1, you can select the green and orange squares to choose the area you want to protect unstead of green and blue. then, we use the /res select vert command. this will then select everything within the yellow lines in the picture. Keep in mind that using this will prevent anyone from mining through your residence, even when it way down underground and safely away from your home. If you just want to protect, say 10 blocks under your home, then dig down 10 blocks, select the block below you and then fill the hole. Similarly, for the top corner, build a tower as high as you want and select the top block (just make sure to remove the tower and fill the holes!!!!!).

Step 3: type /res create [name] - replace [name] with whatever you want, no brackets and no spaces

Simple enough type /res create MarksHouse or timmysgarden or toecheesefactory. the name doesn't matter as long as there are no spaces. Keep in mind that later when you need to make changes, you need to use any capital letter used in the original name. Also, anything within the protected area is also protected (chests, doors, levers, furnace). It isn't a very good idea to protect just the building as griefers can place blocks directly. Read my other tutorial for ideas on how to expand your area for more protection.

That's it, all the blocks within the protected areas are griefproof, no one can open doors, open chests and so forth. You can still get griefed without actual damage to your home, so read my other tutorial. And remeber if you get griefed becasue you didn't protect, it's your own fault.
